چکیده
Total hip replacement is the most effective treatment for late stage osteoarthritis. However, adverse local tissue reactions (ALTRs) have been observed in patients with modular total implants. Although detailed mechanisms of ALTRs are still unknown, fretting corrosion and associated metal ion release from CoCrMo femoral head at junction has reported to be a major factor. The purpose this study increase resistance alloy by applying hard coatings surface. Cathodic arc evaporation technique (arc-PVD) was used deposit TiSiN ZrN on substrates. morphology, chemical composition, crystal structures residual stress were characterized scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, diffractometry. Hardness, elastic modulus, adhesion measured nano-indentation, nano-scratch test, Rockwell C test. Fretting tests coated uncoated discs against Ti6Al4V spheres conducted four-station testing machine simulated body fluid 1Hz 1 million cycles. Post-fretting samples analyzed morphological changes, volume loss release. Our analyses showed better surface finish lower coating, but higher hardness scratch coating. results demonstrated substantial improvement both coatings. decreased more than 10 times 1000 times, respectively. Both close 90% decrease Co during tests. suggest that coating deposition can significantly improve its could thus potentially alleviate

Effects of Plasma ZrN Metallurgy and Shot Peening Duplex Treatment on Fretting Wear and Fretting Fatigue Behavior of Ti6Al4V Alloy
A metallurgical zirconium nitride (ZrN) layer was fabricated using glow metallurgy using nitriding with zirconiuming prior treatment of the Ti6Al4V alloy. The microstructure, composition and microhardness of the corresponding layer were studied. The influence of this treatment on fretting wear (FW) and fretting fatigue (FF) behavior of the Ti6Al4V alloy was studied. The composite layer consiste...

CoCrMo samples of varying microstructure and carbon content were electrochemically corroded in vitro and examined by scanning electron microscopy and electron backscatter diffraction techniques. The rate of corrosion was minimized (80% reduction from icorr = 1396 nA/cm(2) to icorr = 276 nA/cm(2) ) in high-carbon CoCrMo alloys which displayed a coarser grain structure and partially dissolved sec...

Micron-size Ni-base alloy (NBA) powders were mixed with both 1.5 wt.% (hereinafter %) micron-size CeO2 (m-CeO2) and also 1.5% and 3.0% nano-size CeO2 (n- CeO2) powders. These mixtures were coated on low-carbon steel (Q235) by 2.0 kW CO2 laser cladding. The effects on the microstructures, phases and electrochemical corrosion of the coatings upon the addition of m- and n- CeO2 powders to NBA (m- ...

facturing methods. Graphene nanocomposite coatings for protecting lowalloy steels from corrosion A ceramic engineer or scientist unfortunately must admit that there is an unwelcome member of the family among us—iron oxide, or rust. This unpleasant family member is disruptive at best. More often it is destructive, nearly impossible to control, and a consumer of resources that are devoted to it i...
